- Is this a fast, adrenaline horseback ride?
No. This is a calm, gentle uphill horseback ride, not a fast gallop or adrenaline-based cabalgata. Your horse is guided by an experienced local cowboy the whole time, and the pace is slow and safe.
- Do I need horseback riding experience?
Not at all. The tour is perfect for total beginners. Each rider has a personal cowboy leading the horse, so no skills are required.
- Is this tour suitable for kids?
Yes! Riders as young as 5 years old are welcome, and kids often love it more than the adults. It's especially great for families where some members want to hike and others prefer to ride.
- Do I have to get off the horse at any point?
You can stay on your horse for the entire ascent and descent. You only need to dismount to explore the summit, take photos, and roast marshmallows.
- What happens if it rains?
The tour operates in most weather conditions; bring a waterproof jacket if the forecast looks wet. In case of severe weather, your guide may adjust the route or timing for safety.

all the staff was excellent Lydia was our tour leader. she was so nice and helpful and educaional the horses was super healthy and well behaved. volcano was fantastic

Loved our experience and definitely recommend! So much cheaper than any other tour option, and it was exactly what we were looking for. Our guide didn’t know much English, but enough to share a couple facts about the volcano and show us pictures of when it erupted a few years prior. We were the only couple in our tour on horses, so everyone else was hiking right behind us. It was nice to ride at a walking pace, and honestly hiking a horse trail filled with horse poop did not look like fun. I’d definitely recommend using the horses instead. Gorgeous views, and roasting marshmallows felt so whimsical on an active volcano!
